General Statement
NOZGEKA is an initiative that is aimed at establishing a Master of Science in Public Health Program with a focus on infectious disease epidemiology. We will implement the program at the University of Livingstonia and Mzuzu University in collaboration with the University Medical Centre Freiburg, the University of Münster and the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research in Germany.
Project Objectives and outcomes
The project is generally aimed at enhancing pandemic preparedness and response in Malawi and beyond by establishment of a Master of Science in Public Health program with a focus on infectious disease epidemiology at University of Livingstonia and Mzuzu University. More specific objectives are:
To improve availability of teaching materials and coordination structure in preparation for effective delivery of the master program at University of Livingstonia by December 2023
- To establish a structured and well organised collaboration and relationship among project partners in the project consortium by December 2023
To introduce advanced short courses in pandemic preparedness, response, and modelling at University of Livingstonia by December 2024
To develop and implement a master postgraduate program in public health with a focus in infectious diseases epidemiology at University of Livingstonia by January 2025
To strengthen the research capacity and teaching skills of lecturers in infectious diseases epidemiology and modelling in Malawi by December 2025 and put the master programme into a position that will make it sustainable for the future
